Almond Dark Chocolate

Best For Chocoholics

If you’re a chocoholic and love the nutty taste of almonds then this is the milk for you! With the richness of dark chocolate and a subtle hint of almond, this is a perfect addition to cereals, smoothies and just to drink straight from the bottle.

Low in saturated fat and fortified with calcium and vitamins B2 and D, this milc is not bad nutritionally. It performs relatively well in terms of fibre content too. However, be mindful of higher sugar content compared to other milks, as well as the lack of vitamin B12.

Almond Unroasted No Sugars

Best For Enjoying The ‘Natural’ Taste Of Nuts

Sometimes it’s good to try things in their most ‘natural’ form. This unroasted and unsweetened milk gives a smooth, nutty taste, just as nature intended. This makes it a great addition to tea, coffee, smoothies and various recipes.

This is also a great, healthy alternative with no sugar content and low amounts of saturated fat and salt. It is fortified with calcium, vitamins B2, B12 and D.

Organic Almond No Sugars

Best For Increasing Consumption Of Organic Products

This is great for people wanting to drink a nutty, lightly roasted organic plant-based milk. Nutritionally, this milc performs excellently with low saturated fat and sugar. However, if you’re looking for a calcium boost, this isn’t the milk for you, with just 9.8mg included. A lack of vitamin fortification is also disappointing to see.

Barista Almond

Low Calorie Coffee

Another Alpro barista milk that froths well, but not quite as well as Oat or Soya. This almond barista milk has a great flavour, not an overpowering almond taste but a subtle hint instead. We would even recommend it in an iced coffee. However, we must warn you that there is a slight marzipan aftertaste, which could be a game-changer for some people if you’re into that!

Nutritionally it fairs OK, but disappointing that it includes no added vitamin D, B2 or B12 like other Oat and Soya Alpro barista milks. The benefit of an Almond Barista milk is in the low fat and saturated fat content that will be hard to beat.

This milc is perfect if you like a subtle almond taste in your coffee and want to keep the calories and fat content down.

Soya Organic

Best For Health Conscious

Looking for a ‘no frills’ organic protein boost? This Soya Organic milk made from just hulled soya beans and water comes packed with 3.3g of protein and zero sugar! So if you’re looking for a non-sweet milk with just a few ingredients, this could be a perfect choice.

This would be a perfect addition to tea and coffee as it doesn’t curdle, as well as in smoothies and food recipes to increase the protein content.

However, be mindful that it performs poorly in calcium intake and has a high amount of saturated fat. The lack of vitamin fortification may also be a disappointment for many. Obviously, if you have an intolerance to soy, steer clear of this one!

Soya Original

Best For Soya Lovers

This Soya milk has a well balanced nutritional profile, with low saturated fat and salt, as well as vitamin and mineral fortification. It has a creamy, smooth taste, making it great on cereal and in smoothies. Despite this milk being long life, it doesn’t impact the taste which is a massive plus, although it does curdle, so may not be the best choice for hot drinks!

Oh and for the environmentally conscious of you out there, the soya beans used in this drink are responsibly sourced too, so you know that you’re not contributing to the deforestation!

Barista Soya

Nutritionally balanced Coffee

This Barista soya milk is a game-changer. Unlike many other soya milks, it has a great taste, foams, and doesn’t separate in coffee.

Nutritionally, it also packs a decent punch, with 3.3g of protein and the full 120mg of calcium. It would be good to see Alpro bring the fat content down slightly, but with the other nutritional benefits, we can live with that!

Alpro have really got the formula correct across their range when it comes to milc froth and this soya drink is no different, it won’t disappoint when mixing with your coffee.

We’re very impressed, and excited to see Alpro take soya milc to the next level!

Organic Coconut

This coconut milk is a great creamy plant milc for those wanting only organic coconuts. There are no added sugars, just the naturally occurring ones. Despite its great taste, this coconut milk’s nutritional profile is poor. Coconut Original

Best For Creamy Recipes

Coconut milk is delicious. It’s a great addition in smoothies and cereal. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find something positive to say about it nutritionally. However, it does have one benefit over Alpro’s Organic Coconut milk – vitamin B12 and D fortified, as well as a much better level of calcium. Despite this, both perform poorly due to the high concentration of saturated fat and little protein and fibre.

Coconut No Sugars

Best For Creamy Non-Sweet Recipes

This is an unusual one. At first sight, this milc may appear more healthful compared to Alpro’s other coconut milk’s due to 0 g of sugar. Unfortunately, this benefit is offset by the whopping 1.1 g of saturated fat. Again, it has vitamin D and B12 fortification, along with good levels of calcium, but if you’re looking to reduce your intake of saturated fat, you’d best look elsewhere!

Barista Coconut

Best For Frothing

This milk is quite polarised. On the one hand, it is the creamiest of the barista bunch, with the best froth too! On the other, it performs the worst nutritionally, with no added vitamins and relatively high levels of saturated fat and sugar. It does have 1.5g of protein per 100ml, though!

Despite the relatively high sugar content this shouldn’t take away from the performance of this milc when it comes to pairing with coffee, it truly is a great combination.

It’s well balanced nutritionally – being fortified with vitamins B2, B12 and D is a plus, as well as a good amount of calcium. No saturated fat and very high fibre content are also positives. However, the sugar content is a little high and disappointingly low levels of protein.

Oat Chocolate

Best For Chocoholics

This milk is perfect if you’re a chocoholic. Unsurprisingly, it’s not the healthiest choice but equally isn’t as bad as you may expect. It’s fortified with vitamins B2 and D, as well as the standard Alpro amount of 120 mg of calcium. The saturated fat and fibre levels are reasonable too, all things considered. Although it has the least amount of sugar when compared to other plant-based oat chocolate milks, the sugar content is amongst the highest of any of Alpro’s other milks, so be mindful of that.

This would be great by itself as a hot chocolate, or in a smoothie.

Velvety Coffee

A personal coffee favourite of ours here at plant milc, it froths great and has a very creamy and neutral taste – not too sweet or overpowering.

This milc froths very well, producing a thick silky foam, suitable for a cappuccino. However, the froth can get very thick depending on the frother you use so if you’re looking for a latte it might be best to mix with some heated milc to get the latte consistency.

If we’re looking for a downside to this drink it would be the calcium levels with just 9.6mg, compared with the standard 120mg for many of Alpro’s other milks. This barista milk is also fortified with other vitamins to help get them into your morning coffee easily.

Taste-wise, this is one of our personal favourite Alpro milks. Nutritionally, it’s fortified in vitamins B2, B12 and D, and the highest level of calcium in any of Alpro’s milks. However, it is a very sweet milc, so be cautious of the high sugar content.

This is great in porridge, hot chocolate, cereal and nutty granola.

Rice Original

Best For Soy Or Nut Allergies

This rice milk is perfect for those with soy or nut allergies. It’s versatile as it has a mild taste and natural sweetness. With no saturated fat and vitamin B2, D and calcium fortification it’s good nutritionally. However, be careful of the slightly high sugar content and zero fibre. It is also a very thin milk, so wouldn’t go well in coffee, but works well with overnight oats and granola.

Coconut Almond

Best For Those Who Can’t Decide

This is a great tropical blend between two of the most loved milcs. The lightly roasted almonds blended with fragrant coconuts complement each other well. Nutritionally, it is fortified with vitamins B2, B12, D and calcium. It has mediocre levels of saturated fat, sugar and salt. However, the absence of fibre and low protein levels bring its ranking down a little.

This would be great with overnight oats, granola or coffee.

Soya High Protein Chocolate

Best For Post-Workout Drink

Like Alpro’s Soya High Protein milk, this milc also comes with very high levels of protein, great for those looking to build muscle. It is also fortified with vitamins B2, D and calcium, and has a good amount of fibre. However, there is a huge amount of sugar in this one, so be careful!

Soya Chocolate

Best For Drinking Solo

This Soya Chocolate milk is a great comfort food when moving towards a plant-based diet, proving that removing animal products doesn’t mean you can’t have indulgences! Very high in sugars, we wouldn’t recommend drinking this daily, but it is fortified in vitamins B2, D and calcium and has a good amount of protein.

Soya Vanilla

Best For Smoothies

This is another delicious flavoured soya milk high in sugar that means it can be either added to smoothies, cooking recipes or drunk by itself. It is fortified with vitamins B2, B12 and D, as well as calcium. It also has 3 g of protein which is a plus.

Soya Strawberry

Best For Cereal

Like the Soya Chocolate and Soya Vanilla milks, this Soya Strawberry milc is great to drink by itself or add to recipes, smoothies or cereal. Again, the high sugar content makes this milk unsuitable to drink regularly, but it is fortified with vitamins B2 and B12, as well as 120 mg of calcium.

Cashew Original

Best For Creamy Addition To Cereal And Smoothies

This Cashew Original milk is so creamy and delicious, making it a great addition to cereal and smoothies. Nutritionally it performs well too, with low calories, saturated fat, sugar and salt, as well as fortified with vitamins B2, B12 and D. However the relatively low fibre and protein content stop it from being the perfect milk nutritionally.
